The Kingdom of God When Jesus approached the city of Jerusalem, the streets were lined with Jews shouting out to him, â€Å"The crowds going ahead of Him, and those who followed, were shouting, â€Å"Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!†(Matthew 21:9). Jesus was the Messiah. He arrived with a plan to build the Kingdom of God. He would change the world but were the Jews ready for what Jesus had to offer? As the Jews lined the entrance to the Roman Empire, they expected their own version of the Messiah, â€Å"He is the one who will build a house for my Name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever† (2 Samuel 7:13). What happened next was not part of their plan. The Jews wanted a king that would conquer the Romans what they received was a king of peace. This paper will explore the coming of Jesus and the Kingdom of God, explain how and why Jesus selected 12 ordinary men to become the teachers of t he Kingdom of God.
